I was genuinely surprised to see this today in the NY Times - this was a major article, front page of the Arts section. The photo ( shown above) was about 12" deep and 3 columns wide. That's big treatment from the paper of record.

You left a footprint, Bear.

strange as it seems, the Wall Street Journal did the best obituary in my opinion -- not to mention a great photo too.
